Still need time to think? Here are four important steps to consider when it comes time to make the switch:
- Stop Using Old Accounts
Wait until all of your checks and deposits have cleared. Balance your account, so you know the closing amount. And be sure to destroy unused checks, deposit slips, ATM cards, and debit cards. - Switch Your Direct Deposits
If you have a paycheck or other recurring income automatically deposited for you, make sure it follows you to Chesapeake Bank. - Switch Your Automatic Payments
If your mortgage, insurance premium or other recurring bill is automatically debited, make sure future payments come from your new Chesapeake Bank account. - Switch Your Online Bill Pay
If you banked online with your previous financial institution, print out a list of payees and their information before you close your old account. Then set up Chesapeake Bank’s Online Banking with Free Bill Pay.
